Domain Name Based on Certain Considerations

When do we register a domain name???

If you have content.

Questions:

  • What information does your site concept deliver
  • What are your keywords brainstormed for high dollars
  • What is your unique delivery Presell position

Example, your Site Concept information could be "Computers".

Your Keyword could be "Cheap".

Your unique delivery position could be "Antique"

(Each and every word is feed for the spiders)

Your possible domain

www.cheap-antique-computers.com...or

www.computers-cheap-antique.com..or

www.antique-computers-cheap.com

Make your Site Concept information crystal clear for your human visitors. And of course the engines rank your site a little higher when your Concept Keyword is included in your domain name....Lets feed the spiders.

OK lets do another and see how the delivery position can put you in a completely different category.

www.cheap-computer-repair.com

"repair" being your delivery position.

Even though your concept is computers you just went from antiques to repairs. Two entirely different categories.

A good domain is....

  • short and sharp
  • meaningful--conveys a clear message
  • easy to spell
  • easy to remember
  • unique, descriptive, and "you"
  • solid, classic, not hokey
  • contains your Site Concept/keyword for the spider visitors
  • contains your Valuable Presell Position

SideBar (When do we use dashes?)
If both versions of a 3-or-more-word domain are available, use dashes because they make the word breaks more obvious to the eye. Also the engines usually treat dashes as a space. So it may be more likely to "see" the entire string as separate words.

For example, which is easier to read?

pricing-on-the-net.com ...or...pricingonthenet.com

Dashes are less important if your domain has only 2 words in it.
See how "netpricing.com ..and.. cyberpricing.com

don't really need the help of a dash.

Use dashes even if the domain only has two words if the non-dash version is already being used by someone else.

OK Here's The Rules

  1. Register a domain that clearly reflect your Site Concept.
  2. Register a domain that reflects your Valuable Presell Position
  3. Register a domain that contains your Site Concept Keyword.

Do you see how much easier it is in choosing a domain name if you wait until you have "Site Concept/Presell Position/Keywords"
